This is not a custom jig, but rather a modified one. :)




Boss Multiple Plugs (Modified)

A Boss J5 Multiple Jacks that was modified.
It now has 4 plugs instead of jacks.
It sends one signal to 4 places.
It was made almost 20 years ago to test 4 Track recorders.
(A cable was made to test 8 track recorders, but no pic was taken of that.)

The family that patches together, part 3

The spousal unit and I played around a bit more with the System 700, but this time with two new additions--the sequencer and my bass guitar. Well, at separate times. Haven't played around with the bass in many moons, so it was nice to know I still remembered a couple things I learned. :-)

Earlier today, I ring modulated 2 VCO's controlled by two LFO's just because I'm a)twisted and b)not a synthesist. ;-)

I don't get to play around with a System 700 all that often... works out to every couple of years. I kinda have to re-learn how they work each time. This time, knowing it's kind of like messing about with a 2600 has helped.

.... and now, be it ever so housewife, it's time to clean the kitchen before I call it a night.

There's a System 700 here for restoration. One cabinet's done, and it's pretty much the equivalent of the contents of a 2600.

My husband and I played around with it yesterday. I had a blast! :)
In my opinion, the System 700 is Roland's answer to both the 2600 and a Moog Modular.
I think that's why I love playing with one so much! :)

Can't wait until the rest of it is done. I've been looking at that sequencer quite longingly for ages!

Oh... and my favorite module? The one that has both noise and ring modulation. ;-)

My First System 100m, part two

Ok... thanks to synthparts for the correct guess on the SH-5 pic. I didn't think of any prize for this one... so you'll get my sincere thanks for now.


So... here's the second pic:




This synth (I swear it's there underneath all that Photoshop work!) was originally owned by Jeff Rona, and purchased back when he worked at Roland. It entered our place, and was quickly snapped up by Chris Y. As a finder's fee, we got a Minimoog in desperate need of restoration. That Mini was another first for me--the first one I saw fully restored AND the first time I was handed a screwdriver and told to carefully take the plastic key tops off of the keyboard action.

After it was done, the Mini was then sold to Brian Kehew. He replaced the mod section with a ribbon controller one, and took it with him to NAMM when he was there with Big Briar. :)

My first encounter with a Roland System 100m

The file date for this one was 5/28/1997. This is a 4 cabinet Roland System 100m that entered the place not too long after the System 700 left and about the same time as our cat Obie did. It was definitely less intimidating than the 700 was, but I remember having a blast with the envelope generators. Possibly the filters, too.

I don't know what happened to the original picture, but here's some fun I had with Photoshop back then--
