A couple videos...

I actually feel like posting more than one item today. :)

These two videos are from a very cool client, Scott Metzger.

Here's a great demo of the 4 Voice my husband recently did for him.

If you like that, check out his cool Memorymoog Demo video. (I got to peek inside this beast not too long ago. Rudi does excellent work! :)

Getting Jiggy With Synthfool: #4: SEM Tester

One of my favorite jigs: The Oberheim SEM Tester

This box is a great way to troubleshoot and fix SEM's without having to take it in and out of its chassis.
The pegs on top that allow for it to rest easily and securely using the SEM's mounting holes.
Harnesses are provided with color-coded molex connectors that match the original chassis wiring.
The box also provides scope and meter outputs.

How on earth is this mint?!

Screenshot from an auction. I snipped the generic description of the instrument, 'cause I hate when people add stuff like that to an auction. Click on it and read it... and let me know if you think this synth is even remotely mint!

I need to edit a couple of posts, as I have an error to correct and more info on the white faced Ody. :)

Where's the 8 voice?

I was told by my better half that the 8 voice pic I posted was actually a stock Oberheim photo. Oops. I was fooled by the date on the file. ;)

If I dig up another 8 voice pic, I'll repost it.

Patchable Oberheim 3 Voice

This is a customized, patchable Oberheim 3 Voice. The 4th SEM was removed to make way for a custom-made panel.
Yours truly put most of the jacks on the custom panel, over a decade ago, and not too long after I did the Polyfusion VCF module. This has changed hands a few times, and I don't know where it is now. I hope it's still making happy noises!

Patchable SEM's are a wonderful thing. However, it's a HUGE project, and you have to know what you're doing in order to make sure you don't make a mess of everything. Fixing and modding synths isn't something that should be done on a lark. If you don't fix synths for a living, it's far better to spend time playing a synth to see what you can get out of it than it is to try to modify it yourself. I know, that's not what people like to hear, but if I can save one synth from being destroyed by well-indended but ill-equipped hands, I'll consider my job done. ;-)

Apologies for not posting on the 12th. I had a migraine, and it screwed up my day.
