Another System 700 video. :)
This time I'm hosting it on my server, 'cause I got the wrong kind of attention when I posted the last video on YouTube.
Again, I'm not a synthesist nor a musician... just havin' a little fun with something I had a hand in restoring. :)

Origins of a Synth Cat

Late 1996, according to the date on the photo.
I'll have to dig up more cat/synth pics. We've got a bunch. :)

Cats & Synths
This is Squidlo. He's 12 and has been a Synth Cat all his life. :)

Somewhere I have a pic of this same cat on top of a System 700 back when he was a
kitten. I'll dig it up and post it.

The family that patches together, part 3
The spousal unit and I played around a bit more with the System 700, but this time with two new additions--the sequencer and my bass guitar. Well, at separate times. Haven't played around with the bass in many moons, so it was nice to know I still remembered a couple things I learned. :-)
Earlier today, I ring modulated 2 VCO's controlled by two LFO's just because I'm a)twisted and b)not a synthesist. ;-)
I don't get to play around with a System 700 all that often... works out to every couple of years. I kinda have to re-learn how they work each time. This time, knowing it's kind of like messing about with a 2600 has helped.
.... and now, be it ever so housewife, it's time to clean the kitchen before I call it a night.

The family that patches together...
There's a System 700 here for restoration. One cabinet's done, and it's pretty much the equivalent of the contents of a 2600.
My husband and I played around with it yesterday. I had a blast! :)
In my opinion, the System 700 is Roland's answer to both the 2600 and a Moog Modular.
I think that's why I love playing with one so much! :)
Can't wait until the rest of it is done. I've been looking at that sequencer quite longingly for ages!
Oh... and my favorite module? The one that has both noise and ring modulation. ;-)

System 700 Sequencer

Here's a close-up pic of a Roland System 700 Sequencer. Same 700 as the last one I posted, at least according to the file's date. :)

System 700 for a Sunday Afternoon

A Roland System 700 that passed through our place 5 years ago. They're sooo much fun to play with! There's so much to work with, and they sound really good. Or maybe I'm biased because System 700's are usually as old as I am. ;-)
Ironically, this file's original date was on Bob Moog's birthday in '02!
Sorry 'bout not posting yesterday. I was hanging out with my Dad, and blogging slipped my mind.
